MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

The Gift of Life well-lived takes on two perspectives - personal and professional - when it comes to our community health service centre, MediAssist4U. Firstly, looking after one's health – whether it is ours
or someone else's – is a duty. The true wealth of a community, after all, is reflected in its well-being
and the physical and mental health of its members. Professionally, in our quest for a happier and healthier community, it is also our duty as well as a challenge to provide the best possible health services, both technologically and in the efficiency of our personnel.

Launched on March 12, 2006, MediAssist4U, as the name suggests, is a non-profit organisation aimed at doing just that – assisting individuals in maintaining their good health by providing easily-accessible and convenient health services at our centre in Kuala Lumpur . This service is also specially addressed to those who are in need of medical aid but owing to financial constraints, have very few options.

MediAssist4U strives to provide the latest medical screening services available today covering all aspects of health – literally from head to toe. Here, I am proud to say that the generosity of spirit of the volunteer doctors and support staff at our centre has rendered all these noble services a reality.

A priority goal of MediAssist4U is cardiac screening to help members of the public achieve longer and better lives through prevention and control of heart diseases. In this matter, MediAssist4U is extremely privileged to work closely in smart partnership with the internationally recognised Narayana Hrudayalaya Health City Hospital in Bangalore , India . Helmed by its much-heralded chairman and renowned humanitarian Dr. Devi Prasad Shetty , the hospital has graciously extended its expertise in the area of cardiology to MediAssist4U. Our centre is permanently linked online with the hospital and amazingly, all our patients here in Kuala Lumpur have their conditions assessed immediately by the Narayana Hrudayalaya expert staff. To quote Dr. Shetty : “Telemedicine lets ordinary doctors do extraordinary things.”

On our part, MediAssist4U honours this vision and mission of affordable quality health services. Everyone at our centre – from doctors, nurses and support staff – is committed to providing exceptional care to our patients with compassion and personal pride.

On behalf of my colleagues on the Executive Council and the staff at MediAssist4U, I sincerely thank you for your interest in our pioneer health screening centre. There is no doubt that this framework of service honouring the Gift of Life can encompass a bigger picture, and reach out to more people truly in need of medical attention. With the support and the contributions of caring corporations, institutions and committed individuals, we are confident of steadfastly being able to do our duty of making a positive difference to the well-being of our fellow man, and our world at large.

Dr. Patrick J. Lawrence
